Richard Armitage was born and bought up in England. He studied at Pattison College in Coventry after which he joined the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts to study acting. He has an elder brother whose name is Christopher.

Richard began his career with a small role in a movie called This Year’s Love. Next, he played a major role in television show called Sparkhouse. He also played supporting roles in shows like Between the Sheets, Cold Feet and Ultimate Force. North and South was the first show where he played the leading role. Currently, he is playing the character of Lucas North in the series Spooks (season 7). He is also producing a drama which will be based on the life of Richard III.

Role In Robin Hood

In Robin Hood, he plays the villainous character of Sir Guy of Gisborne. He is the right hand man of the evil Sheriff, who supervises Locksley Estate while Robin Hood is fighting for the King. He is not willing to surrender the estate on Robin’s return and is quite happy when Robin becomes an outlaw. He is also interested in marrying Marian, whom Robin loves. The two reasons ignite his hatred for Robin and he is keen to destroy him. .
