Jonas Armstrong was born in Ireland, but was bought up in Lancashire, in England. He has a younger brother who is also an actor and a younger sister. He did his schooling from Arnold School. He graduated from The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 2003. While at college, he acted in shows such as Twelfth Night, The Caucasian Chalk Circle, The Crucible and Ulysses. He also appeared in other shows such as Quartermaine’s Terms and The Skin of Our Teeth. In 2004, he appeared in the British comedy series Teachers on television. However, Robin Hood was the first main role that he played on television.
